Before following this guide, check with your institution’s Blackboard Administrator to confirm that the Blackboard–Walter AI integration has already been set up. This guide assumes the integration is ready to use.

The Blackboard integration lets instructors add Walter AI Tutor and learning activities directly into their courses, so students can access AI-powered support without leaving Blackboard.

Once your institution has completed the initial setup, you can start using Walter AI directly inside your Blackboard courses.

Depending on what you choose to add, you can:

• Give students access to an AI tutor for questions and learning support
• Launch students directly into quizzes or role play activities
• Access teacher-only tools to manage content and activities

Students will only see the items you add to the course.

Adding Walter AI to Blackboard Courses

The steps vary slightly depending on whether your course uses Original View or Ultra View.

Original Course View

1. Open your Blackboard course
2. Turn Edit Mode ON
3. In the left menu, click Content
4. Hover over Build Content
5. Select Walter AI Activity
6. Choose one of the following:
   • Walter AI Tutor – AI chat support for students
   • Specific Quiz – launches directly into a quiz
   • Specific Role Play – launches directly into a role play
